Events: 2016-2017

Hey Guys
Hope you all have been having a great week. Events are finally decided and a link will be posted at the end of the list. These events are NOT final as we have not seen the times for each event yet. Events will only be final after we receive the official schedule and time table for the competition. Also, there were several events for which no one had signed up, so we filled them with members to allow everyone to participate in at least 3 events. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to come talk to me (Neha) at the meeting this friday or email valenciascienceolympiad@gmail.com.

2017 Event Descriptions

Hey Guys
I am going to include a list of the new events for this year. The ones that are from last year will be in black while the new ones will be in blue. For the black events you can find the rules in a google docs file I am going to attach at the bottom. For the blue events I am going to embed a link in them that leads to the official science olympiad website. On the website you can find the rules and other materials about the new events. Make sure to look over the events in detail as this friday you will be asked to list the events you would like to take part in this year.

Late Meeting Summary 9/16/16

Thanks to those who came to the first official Science Olympiad meeting in Mrs. Hrezo's classroom on Friday. There will be another meeting this Friday at lunch, so if you missed the last meeting, Please come this week.

Last Friday, we just answered some general information on the competition and fundraising. If you don't know what Science Olympiad is, it is a competition in which students are assigned certain events and compete against other school at one of two colleges on a date. We prep for the events in various ways. Some events are study-at-home and take a test there, some are build events (like building a bridge at home), and some are a combination of prep and improv.

We are still finalizing fundraising information, so I'll update the blog when the information is set.

First Official Meeting TOMORROW

Hey Guys
Tomorrow is the first "official" meeting for science olympiad in rm 814. Make sure to come by if your are interested in learning more about the club and bring friends.

New Year

Today was the first meeting of the 2016-2017 school year!

The meeting was focused on fundraising. We need ~$300 to register as a team for the actual events, so we need to raise this money through various methods. After brainstorming possible sites for fundraising, members were assigned businesses to contact for information by the next meeting (which is September 9th).

For those who were here, find out if they'll let us fundraise (we're a relatively small club), how much money we'll receive, if we can pass out flyers at the door, etc. Get the registration forms for the fundraiser if applicable. We need a few weeks to get the fundraising idea through ASB and the office, so we can't start fundraising immediately.

This is just a reminder that supplies lists are due TONIGHT. If you do not send us a list, it will be assumed that you do not need supplies and will be covering them on your OWN cost. And for those of you interested, we have about $300 budget for supplies. If we have money left after supplies, we can use the money to buy study guides for our events. Final Events List

Hey Guys,
So after all of the member changes and confusion, I have a FINAL schedule for everyone. Please remember that the events will not change. I do understand that some people may not know their event, and it isn't their final choice but we needed people for the empty events.
